On the outskirts of the village Wierden lies the Esrand area, an area of about five acres. Currently, the area is an open spot after a former main road was demolished. Apart from a new hotel with associated parking, the area will feature local services, playgrounds, sports fields and walking trails.
"The new developments for the area show a completely different picture than what people have so far imagined for the area," says Jan Marten de Jong, Communication Consultant at the municipality of Wierden. "Stakeholders are wondering what the area will look like in the future. The influence of the hotel premises and local services on the existing environment is important."
People want to know what the hotel premises and local services are going to look like from their own home or business. Conversely, people also wonder what the view from the hotel and premises for local services will be. Vegetation and infrastructure also determine this area. To communicate this we have used a Virtual Scale Model which allows people to 'freely' move around."
During a first briefing, approximately 300 interested parties were present to view the Virtual Scale Model. "This was also the first time that the plans for the hotel, which will be about 38 meters high, were shown to a public audience," says de Jong. "The general impression at this meeting was that people appreciate the new developments. The opportunity to visually walk around in the new situation has certainly contributed to the experience. In addition, it is great that the Virtual Scale Model is suitable for an easy update when it needs to be filled with any future developments."
"Working with 3D capacity went very well," says de Jong. "3D capacity made a clear quote and kept up with the promised quality. A professional organization that is pleasant to work with during the development process."
